The aim of the project is to set up a digital data base on land cover of Eritrea, at the scale 1:100,000 and to strengthen national resources for the setting up, updating and operational utilisation of the land cover data base. In the framework of the Africover project (GCP/RAF/287/ITA), financed by the Italian Development co-operation and executed by FAO, FAO and IAO signed an agreement to carry out the work at the IAO GIS and mapping laboratory. Four national and two international experts photo-interpreted the satellite data and set up the data base.
